HOMESCHOOLING IN SA IS LEGAL

Yes, it is legal to homeschool your children in South Africa...
 

Although the Department of Education might try to intimidate parents into registering with them, it is your choice to do so or not. But, before deciding not to register, contact the Pestalozzi Trust and read the articles on their website.

We do not follow a set curriculum, because we discovered that a lot of the box curricula out there are expensive and that Bible Study is a compulsory subject in a lot of them. Therefore our eclectic approach. 

Cottage schools, micro schools or education facilities are all options, if you can not home educate yourself. Find out what curriculum they follow, if any and what are their views on spirituality, before making a decision. Some of them are ridiculously expensive. I found this out before I started my own cottage school...
